Edo State Government Reshuffles Heads of Education Boards
Benin City, May 20, 2025 — In a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving service delivery in the state’s education sector, the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved a major reshuffle involving the leadership of three key educational boards.
According to a government announcement issued on Tuesday, Dr. Maureen Osaro Ekhoragbon, who was the Chairman of the Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE), has been redeployed to head the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB).
In a corresponding change, Barrister Onomen Goodness Briggs, formerly Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), will now assume leadership of the BTVE.
Meanwhile, Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia, the outgoing Chairman of SSEB, has been appointed Acting Chairman of SUBEB, pending confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The government stated that the reshuffle takes immediate effect.
