JUST IN: JAMB Admits System Error, Orders Retake for Candidates in 157 UTME Centres

ABUJA – May 14, 2025

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has acknowledged errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results and has announced that affected candidates in 157 centres will retake the exam.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this on Wednesday following a stakeholder review session prompted by widespread complaints from candidates who claimed unusually low scores despite strong academic track records.

Oloyede offered an unreserved apology to the affected candidates and accepted full responsibility for the error.

“So, I appeal to the candidates and those affected by the error of our system to accept this explanation as the truth of the matter without embellishment, PLEASE. I apologise and take full responsibility, not just in words,” the registrar stated.

He added that the board has identified 157 out of the 882 CBT centres used nationwide where technical glitches compromised the integrity of the exam results.

“All the candidates affected in the 157 centres will be contacted to retake their examinations starting Friday, May 16, 2025,” he announced.

The decision comes after a series of protests and online outcries by students and parents questioning drastic score discrepancies.

JAMB has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining the credibility of its examinations and promised that steps are being taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
