Three members of the House of Representatives from Katsina State have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection was announced on Thursday by Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary. The lawmakers cited internal crises and leadership issues within the PDP as reasons for their decision to cross over to the APC.
Speaker Abbas welcomed their move, describing it as a “timely decision” and commended them for choosing to align with the ruling party at a critical moment in the country’s political development.
This comes just days after six other lawmakers from Delta State also left the PDP for the APC, indicating a growing wave of defections within the National Assembly.
The shift is seen by analysts as part of broader political realignments ahead of the next general elections, with implications for the balance of power within the legislature.
