BENIN CITY – The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, the Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area.
This directive follows a spate of incessant kidnappings and killings reported in the area, raising widespread concern over the safety and security of residents.
The latest incident, which reportedly led to the death of a palace chief, Late John Ikhamate, has drawn the attention of state authorities. In connection with the matter, the monarch’s secretary, Chief Peter Omiogbemhi, has been arrested by security agencies for questioning and further investigation.
Governor Okpebholo’s action underscores his administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward insecurity and its determination to hold traditional institutions accountable in the quest to protect lives and maintain peace across the state.
The suspension of Dr. Egabor remains indefinite pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
