The Ceremony at the All Progressives Congress Secretariat in Ikpokpan, GRA, Benin City witnessed 4 lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly cross carpeted to the APC.
The Defectors, Donald Okogbe, representing Akoko Edo, Bright Iyamu, representing Orhionmwon South, Sunday Ojiezele, representing Esan South East all from the People’s Democratic Party, and Richard Osaro Edosa, representing Oredo West formerly under Labour Party, were officially received by the Chairman of the Party in the state, Jarrett Tenebe, who welcomed the defectors, stating that their decision is an endorsement of Governor Okpebholo’s vision for development.
Richard Edosa, speaking on behalf of the new members, described the move as a defining moment and an acceptance of the governor’s vision for Edo State.
This development could be seen as a significant blow to the PDP in Edo State, and a major victory for the APC, whose dominance is expected to increase, with the party’s minority status gradually tilting towards majority.
